played on recorder by Ernst Stolz From a manuscript in the British Library (London Add.29987) Voor Ria: Dank je wel! This music from around 1400 is the first written instrumental musicThe Trotto employs the same structural concept as the istampitte, but it is less complex in its treatment of the material and tonalities. Characteristics are leaps and incisive (sharp) rhythms and suits very good as dance music. In this recording I use an edition which has an fifth leap at the end of the first phrase instead of the fourth, but that is quite plausible I think. HD quality: http://www.vimeo.com/2438538
