Although the Indian sari is one of the most beautiful and comfortable cloth for a woman to wear, some western women think that if they wear a sari, it will offend indians. I'm Indian-American and I never thought people had such rediculous ideas. To shake their fear, I compiled this video. ---------------------------------- Some facts about the Sari: ---------------------------------- 1. The most expensive Saris are handmade on a handloom. 2. The least expensive ones are made in the mills. 3. A sari is like a canvas for a weaver where he/she weaves the events that go on in life. 4. Saris come in 3 different types, woven, printed and embroidered. 5. A sari can take from 2 months anywhere to 2 years to make. 6. Bridal saris are very expensive. In South India, the boarder of a Bridal sari is usually large. In North India, the sari's are completely different. 7. The sari is decked in ancient history, belonging to Hinduism (real name: Shantana Dharma). It is a garment of celestial proportions. 8. In Hinduism, a hole in the fabric made with a needle was considered to be impure. That's why saris are woven. 9. Saris go best with matching blouses. 10. Sari Designers get very creative. I've once seen an Egyptian themed sari. It was beautiful nonetheless.
