In each race you will face 5 opponents that will race you and you will always start as the 6th car. To qualify for the second race you have to win the first race. Set the best possible time to get a high score. GAME RULES. In each game of Webracer Grand Prix you drive the red car over two different tracks of 3 laps each. There are many different tracks in Webracer, but only two will be picked out for each game. Your task is to cover the laps as fast as possible to set a high score. As you race across the track 5 computer opponent cars will race against you. They will not actively try to affect your race, but avoid them to retain maximum speed, if you bump into them you will lose speed and valuable time. On the first track you have to end the race as the 1st car to qualify for the second race. Any other placement leads to the game ending there. On the second track you have no other target than to race as fast as possible. Your score is calculated as soon as you pass the finishing line of the third lap. Turbo Boost. On each track 3 Turbo boosts are placed on the track. Drive over them to collect them, you may hold up to 3 turbo boosts and control when to activate them. When you use them your speed will be temporarily increased and this can allow you to catch up or overtake the opposition. You can see how many boost you have collected in the control panel. Status Panel In this panel you can see your current position in the race, how many boosts you have collected and the current time you have been out on the track. You can minimize the panel if you feel like it. Track Map. The map shows you the shape of the current track you are racing as well as the position of all cars, designated by a marker with each cars' colour. You are the red marker. The map also shows which of the 3 laps you are currently racing. There is no time limit in the game but if all other cars have finished their 3 laps it is game over. You can end the game at any time by pressing the End Game option. GAME CONTROLS. You control the car with the keyboard arrows: Up Arrow: Accelerate Down Arrow: Break Left Arrow: Left turn Right Arrow: Right turn Space Bar: Activate Turbo Boost You can also move or resize both the Status Panel and Track Map. You can end the game at any time by pressing the End Game option. You can also turn off the sound with the sound icon. GAME SCORING. On each track you get a score of: 20000 - (The number of 0.01 of seconds used on the track) X 1 points So the less time you use to clear all the laps, the higher your score is. STRATEGY. Avoiding to bump into the opposing cars is critical to retain a high speed. The acceleration of your car is time consuming and if you touch an opponent you immediately lose speed. Pick the spots where you try to overtake the cars, a failed attempt costs valuable speed. This is where the Turbo Boosts come into play. TIPS FOR IMPROVING YOUR SCORE. Use the Turbo Boost as the right places to get the maximum value out of the 3 boost you collect. Use the Track Map to look for a long stretch where you can use the speed to your advantage. Do not go out on a limb to pick up a Turbo Boost if you can pick it up on the next lap, all three boosts are always available from the start and stay on the track until the race is over or you pick them up.
