A Pennsylvania Dutch family recipe for the mother of all Cookies. Sand Tarts This is a Pennsylvania Dutch recipe for the best holiday cookies in all the land. 2 cups sugar 4 cups flour 2 Sticks Room Temp Blue Bonnet Margarine 6 egg yolks 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 tsp hot water 1 egg for egg wash Topping - dash of cinammon Cream sugar and margarine Add egg yolks and baking soda mixture Add flour one cup at a time Roll between floured wax paper until very thin Cut with Cookie Cutters Place on cookie sheets greased with crisco Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with cinnamon and colored sugars. Bake at 375 degrees on an ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes until crisp. Give the ones you overcook to your husband, boyfriend or kids . . . Watch the cookies carefully ~ because they will cook very quickly!
