Natalie and Sam dancing away in Central Park, Manhattan, NYC. iDance project was born when I wondered what if I approached people spontaneously on the streets and offered them to shoot spontaneous music videos of them dancing through the streets. I went out and bought Altec Lancing "inMotion" portable flat speakers for my mp3 player and the rest is history. For the dancer; The idea is to block out any ego or insecurities you may have and imagine as if you are in a bubble, or some sort of vacuum ball that is rolling through the streets. As if the people who are walking by dont really exist. However, you may interact with them and even invite to dance with you. The dancer has full control over where he/she wants to take the camera to show a story, either the story from the song or his/her own interpretation of it. The participants should come across as if they are aliens and their interaction with this world is a learning experience about humanity. The dancer interacts with people, animals, objects on the streets all while dancing toward the camera which is floating backwards leading the way for the dancer. After about 20-30 seconds into the song you smoothly disappear into the street crowd and thats when the next dancer enters the picture. All this goes on until the song reaches the end.
