In its first year, Sounds of Light 2007 attracted well over 6,600 attendees resulting in the sponsorship of more than 750 orphans. This was by far the most talked about event the Australian Muslim Community has ever hosted. Sounds of Light 2008 will focus on the disadvantaged children with proceeds going towards education, food and healthcare programs. The Prophet PBUH said: "I and the person who looks after an orphan will enter Paradise together like this, as he joint his forefinger and middle finger". Sounds of Light concert won the Event of the Year award for 2007. Review of last year's performance: "It begins with the harmonious voices of Yahya Hawwa and Mustafa Al Azzawi and their group Mawadda. We are then treated Turkey's inimitable Mesut Kurtis. Mohammed Amer goes on to captivate the audience with his own brand of American Muslim comedy. And is followed by long awaiting Imad Rami, Joining Sounds of Light from the gulf we are then eased into the final part of the night by Ahmed Bukhatir, before being thrilled by the sheer energy of Raihan who closed the night."
